Celebrate Banned Books week by attending this presentation and discussion exploring the role that Libraries have played in supporting and stifling intellectual freedom. Topics discussed include:

  • Historical context of Library exclusion including racial, gender, and socioeconomic restrictions and barriers
  • The shift towards Libraries as a place of inclusion & current landscape of this topic
  • Timeline and context of book challenges & censorship in the US
  • Contemporary trends and state of book banning and challenges
  • Future of libraries, intellectual freedom, and access to information
