NCMC Student Researchers: The Petoskey Siebert Family, 1882-1925 In-Person

Student researchers have been working with Sociology and Anthropology Faculty, Kerri Finlayson to investigate the history of the Siebert family, who previously owned 120 acres of what is now the NCMC Natural Area.

Attendees will learn about how these researchers became interested in this work, their approach to discovery, what they’ve learned about the Siebert family.

Presenters:

Phoenix Backus - Graduating this Spring with their Associates of Arts, following graduation Phoenix is heading to GVSU to begin working toward their Bachelor’s of Anthropology with a minor in Archaeology. Following this Phoenix plans to obtain a Master’s degree in Arts, Cultural Management, and Museum Studies.

Anna Ruhling - A current NCMC student focusing on humanities and the social sciences. Anna has a long term plan of obtaining a master’s degree in classical archaeology due to a Rick Riordan fueled love of mythology.
